ICG settles out of court with Amy Kauffman The Internet Commerce Group was once more in trouble with the law due to the illegal postings of Amy Kauffman. ICG, which is one of the largest owners of adult oriented web sites, had placed pictures of Ms. Kauffman on their www.exwives.com site. The pictures were bought from her ex-boyfriend for an undisclosed amount of money and ICG claimed full ownership of the photos. The ex-wives Internet site posts provocative and nude amateur photos with a story of jilted lovers and failed marriages, which are either bought or acquired freely from ex-husbands, ex-wives, ex-lovers, boyfriends and girlfriends. They currently have been featured on 48 Hours as well as running a contest in conjunction with the Jerry Springer show. Ms. Kauffman was informed of the photos from a friend, and tried several times to contact ICG. She sought help from local Indiana lawyers who threatened ICG with a "Defamation of Character" lawsuit unless the photos were removed immediately from their site. ICG lawyers responded by offering an out of court settlement of an undisclosed amount to Ms. Kauffman for ownership of the photos. Though the www.exwives.com site boasts a slogan of "Revenge is Sweet" it seems that the tables were turned in this instance. Even though the settlement was a "bite," the site continues to run, with the photos as a top feature. |
